Adsense policies that will hurt your income

September 21st, 2006

It’s about time that I should mention the Adsense policies that if not obliged, will get your Google Adsense account terminated. So if you’re breaking any one of these commandments then quickly correct them. Sometimes Google may not know but if your competitor grasses on you, then you’ll be in deep pooh pooh.

By all means, check up on Google’s policies from time to time. They have the rights to change them. I mean they do pay you right?

Without further ado, here are the commandments:

  •  It is a sin to place Adsense on pages that have no content. So make sure yo have good relevant content.
  • A maximum of 3 Adsense units can be displayed on each webpage. So don’t go crazy.
  • A maximum of 2 Google AdSense for search boxes can be inserted on a webpage.
  • Only One link unit can be placed on each webpage. This is in addition to the ad units and search boxes specified above. Link units are considered to part of Adsense.
  • No Adsense formats whatsoever can be displayed on domain parking websites, pop-ups, pop-unders, or in any emails.
  • The Adsense cannot be hidden so that it does not look like an ad. The colors must be such that any ad elements, including text and URL, are visible.
  • Clicks on Google ads must not result in a new browser window being launched.

Now please go and check your websites.

Beginners with Adsense are shy

September 21st, 2006

One of the major problems with beginners or newbies, are - shyness. Yes they are shy like 5 year old boys and girls when they’re introduced to someone they don’t know well. The reason for the shyness is fear. Fear of the unknown. You won’t suspect a  person you meet who is confident and loud to be a beginner right?

You cannot be shy with your sites advertising Google Adsense. Nope, you have to get your word around and tell people to come and visit your site. An Adsense website littered with excellent content and expensive Adsense units are useless if no one knows about it and therefore clickless.

You have to have a big mouth and tell people about it. For example if you have a blog, then tell people about the blog. If you have a website on carpets, then tell people to check out the new information on carpets. By the way, don’t tell people to check out your Adsense because it’s against Google’s TOS.

Apart from word of mouth, add your website links to your signatures with a catchy description. For example:

http://www.adsense-blogger.com - The Adsense blog about Adsense and making money online.

Go to forums, and post and ask people to review your sites. Don’t be shy. Have sigantures at the bottom of your postings - don’t by shy. You’re missing out on traffic that can earn you Adsense clicks.

Yep. By now I hope you’ve learnt that being shy is expensive. So be a loud mouth and blab to everyone you know.

How To Drive Traffic To Your Adsense Sites - Part (One)

September 21st, 2006

I’ll need to use several sections to talk about driving traffic to your Google Adsense sites. I’ve filed these in the category Google Adsense sites, so you can refer back to them. Let’s get started.

One of the biggest problems with driving traffic to a website or a blog is when the topic is boring and the market which has interest is small. For example, how to smoke 2 packets of cigarettes per day may be a niche that is very small. People are all trying to give up smoking as you can see from all the information products on giving up smoking. Coming up with something the exact opposite may not work too well.I could be wrong though but I’m not going to try.

Therefore, the first thing you do to ensure your website will get traffic is to make sure that the topic of your website is popular. The more popular the topic is, the more Adsense there will be for the keywords.

To research on the topic, you can use a niche which you are interested in and search for it using the Google Search Engine. If there are millions of results for the keyword then you know that lots of people are interested.

Next, you look at the Adwords on the right hand side and see if there are many for the keyword phrase. After all, we’re all trying to make an income from Adsense. One of the tools which you use is WordTracker which I highly recommend. http://www.onlinemoneymachine.com/keywords

Wordtracker can be used to find good related keywords related to your niche, and you can use these keywords to further determine if the subject of your website is popular or not. So get to work and start researching on your niche.

Comments can increase your Adsense income - Part Two

September 21st, 2006

In part one, I talked about using comments from your friends and taking action. Of course, I forgot to mention to you, take the comments and test them. Your friend is not always right. He or she may have some weird views so monitor the CTR after placing changing your blogs using their comments.

The next type of comments that can increase your Adsense income is comments that you and others place on the blogs. Lots of bloggers don’t do this they don’t realise how much traffic they are losing because of this.

You should be regualarly posting to your blogs and also at the same time, actively commenting on other people’s blogs that are related to yours. This is very important because what you are essentially doing is creating one way backlinks to your blog.

So what is so good about other blogs linking to your blog? Well one of the reasons that some websites rank high in the search engine results is because they have a lot of one-way links to their websites. This is considered a very important part in SEO. You need to do this.

So do a search in Google and find blogs which are related to your niche and post your comments. Look out for part 3 of this section where we talk about how to post your comments.

Placing images with Adsense

September 21st, 2006

If you do a lot of research on the internet for Google Adsense sites, you will see that a lot of people now place images next to the Adsense.

For example, an Adsense Leaderboard unit of 4, may have 4 small images above it. This has been mentioned in a lot of forums that it increases the click thru rate of Adsense. I myself have tested this and after 2 weeks of monitoring, the results are postive.

I think the reason for this is that, the images draw attention around that area and some times the visitors looking at that area, overlook that it is an advert.

This is a good example of taking advice from forums and acting on them. Notice that I took the advice and tested it. Don’t take all advice as real. Test and test and test.

Comments can increase your Adsense income - Part One

September 21st, 2006

The title above can have 2 meanings - and they are both right.

The first kind of comment is comments from friends or people on forums. You’ve created a website, spent time placing the Adsense units on it, and you want to drive traffic to your blog advertising Google Adsense. Don’t waste that energy and don’t be shy like a lot of adsense website builders.

Go and ask your friends to give comments on your blog or website. Especially the content on them which should be interesting and intriguing. This is so important I cannot emphasise it enough. Your friends’ comments should be the best since they know you and will tell you their honest opinion. Your task is to take these honest opinion and act on them.

What you need to know is that it is nothing personal. Expect bad comments rather than good comments. Take bad comments as an improvement to your blog advertising Google Adsense. You should be happy that you are gaining knowledge and chances of earning a bigger Google Adsense check has increased.

Friends are valuable to everyone in this world. This is one of the reasons why :-)

In part two, I will discuss the other kind of comment which will increase your Adsense income.

Are you asking your friends for favors?

September 20th, 2006

Have you ever asked a friend to do you a favor and criticize your site? I mean ask him or her to really blaze the website and talk about all the bad things they can see. Tell them to save the praises as you don’t want to hear them.

This is one of the most powerful ways to improve the Adsense websites which you have built. Yet I think less than 1% of the people are doing it. But it does make sense right?

What you should do as soon as they see your website is to monitor their reaction and what and where they are looking at. Take note of where they are moving the mouse cursor and what they are saying about the content they see.

If your friend doesn’t know what Adsense is then brilliant. You got yourself an excellent tester. Make sure you keep him or her dumb with this aspect of knowledge.

If they click on the Adsense, ask them straight away why they clicked on it and also did they know it was an advertisement. This will give you valuable insight on whether your Adsense blends well with your website.

Your friend is the visitor. Their comments and remarks count. You are an Adsense website builder and your task is to build Adsense websites so that these visitors will click on the ads. So take their comments seriously. The work you are doing is to serve them.

A continuous Adsense art

September 20th, 2006

The appearance of your Adsense will determine the size of the Google Adsense check you will get. No matter how good your content is, if the Adsense is near hidden, or if it looks too much like a blatant ad, you’ll not get many clicks.

Learning how to make your Adsense placed effectively is a continuous art. There’s always room for improvement and also people adapts and know more things. For example, the Adsense skyscraper format is now overly used. One look and you will know that it’s a Google Adsense. What webmasters are always trying to do is blend the Google Adsense to their website so that it does not look obtrusive.

One you should consciously do when you browse websites next time, is study how Adsense are placed and colored in websites. Adopt the techniques which you think will be effective and then monitor the click thru rate. Keep in mind that Google’s terms and condition will not be broken such as persuading the visitor to click on the ads.

Are you learning about Adsense?

September 20th, 2006

Do you consider yourself an Adsense website builder? Know what the qualities are to be a successful one? Cranking out numerous websites day in and day out will not necessarily make an impact to your Adsense earnings. What you need is knowledge.

If I wrote lots of software hoping that it will give me a good income, it will flop if I’m not doing it right. No one wants to buy junk. Same as your Adsense websites. Continuously building Adsense websites to expand your Virtual Real Estate is the right thing to do. However, you must know how to do it right.

The world changes every day. Not long ago, blogs were unheard of. Not long ago not may people knew what is RSS. Now there’s podcasting too. Do you know all these terms?

One of the daily tasks us Adsense website builders to is learn. We go to forums, sign up to ezines and buy new marketing books. There’re always new ways to make money online. Who knows, maybe something better than Adsense will come along. We must keep up to date and learn. So off you go now and learn.

Research successful Adsense sites

September 20th, 2006

Have you wondered how much successful websites with Adsense are making? Also what their wesbites look like. Well I’m afraid you are not going to find out.

I’m not being mean, but if you’re making a killing with your Adsense website, then I advise you not to tell anyone either. The reason is simple. If you know a website is making lots of money via Google Adsense, wouldn’t you want to study it and also copy its idea?

Furthermore, wouldn’t it be a good idea to compete with the person and build a similar website. If he’s having so much success it must be a good niche to be in. Exactly my point. Additionally a competitor may click on the Adsense repeatedly and cause the Adsense account to be shutdown.

So how do you find out how successful websites are using Adsense and how they are getting good ranking on the search engines? You need to learn to do research. This involves using search engines to find blogs which rank high and also tools which show a website’s ranking in popularity. Find these website then study how everything is laid out.
