Blogging for Google Adsense is not easy

September 18th, 2006

Having a blog advertising Google Adsense is easier than having a static website. But I did not say it is easy. Only easier compared to updating a static website.

A lot of people thinks that once they setup a blog post a few articles, then slap on some Google Adsense and the money will roll in. Nope sorry. Not that easy. This is not The Field of Dreams – “Build it and they will come.”

A blog is useful for getting your Google Adsense income but it needs work. It needs a lot of work at first. Once established you can relax a bit. Here’s in a nutshell the initial steps when setting up a blog and getting traffic to it.
Once Wordpress is installed on your web host, make a posting to your blog every regularly. Right from the start. You should aim to post at least once a day for the first 2 weeks. This will make the search engines take notice of your blog.

After about a week of daily posting, you should write some articles and submit it to the article directories. This will bring more traffic to your blog advertising Google Adsense. Then you need to submit your blog to RSS directories. After that you can continue to update your blog in a less frequent schedule (once a week). However you need to keep the blog alive so don’t stop posting otherwise your effort will be wasted.

Wordpress is the blog for advertising Google Adsense

September 18th, 2006

I use Wordpress for my blog advertising Google Adsense. It is a software I am familiar with and good at. It is relatively easier to get traffic to a blog than a normal website so it is my ideal way of using it to place Google Adsense.

Wordpress can be downloaded from the URL http://www.wordpress.org
Installation is a breeze but prior to that you must know how to setup MYSQL databases with your cpanel. Wordpress provides the instructions for this so it is quite straight forward.

Your blog advertising Google Adsense will need to have some minor customisation where the Adsense code needs to be inserted. This is perhaps the hardest part of setting up your blog advertising Google Adsense.

The customisation is done at the presentation tab where you modify the templates of your blog. If this is too complex for you or if you can’t be bothered with fiddling with this code, you can go to websites such as http://www.scriptlance.com/cgi-bin/freelancers/r.cgi?hbs and pay for a programmer who can do it for you.

Use Technorati to increase visitors

If you’re using a blog advertising Google Adsense, one good tip you can use it to claim your blog at Technorati. You can do this by placing a link such as the one below

http://www.technorati.com/claim/rm7rvg3jks” rel=”me”>Technorati Profile

This will make you claim your blog which will make it more visible to the public. More on Technorati and on blog stuff. But for now, I’m off to bed.

Use Wordpress to blog Google Adsense

September 17th, 2006

My preferred software for a blog advertising Google Adsense is Wordpress. The reason is because it is easy to use, lots of plugins to choose from and it is naturally SEO (search engine optimized). Plus the fact that I’m used to it and can’t be bothered to learn something else J

Wordpress has templates which you can edit to include your Adsense code. This only needs to be done once and then it’s handsfree. Once you applied for your Adsense account, Google has clear instructions of what your Adsense code is so that you can just perform a simple copy and paste to your template. Voila! Your blog advertising Google Adsense is ready.

Some people enjoy having Adsense appear in the middle of their postings. This can be done easily but you have to be careful in that Google only allows 3 blocks of Adsense appear on a webpage. If you have 4 postings with Google Adsense on them and they appear on the main page at the same time, then you may have your Google account shutdown by Google.

This means that you need to carefully keep track of your webpage so that you do not add Adsense to your blog postings when there is already 3 blocks of Adsense shown. This can require a bit of work so I do not go for this option. Perhaps adding a block of Adsense once per month.

Advantages of a blog on Adsense

September 16th, 2006

Having a blog advertising Google Adsense is fun. All you have to do is set up the Adsense code on your blog and then just do what you like doing which is to blog. Give valuable content to your blog and then the relative Adsense will appear. The more related your content is to the niche of your website, the more relative Adsense will appear on the website. Therefore the higher the clickthru rate will be for the Adsense.

The keywords which you use is one of the most important things to note when writing content for your blog. I know, I know. We should generally write what we want when blogging but if we just pay a little attention in mentioning several keywords in our blog posts, then the search engines will have more chance of picking it up and also the more related Adsense will appear on the website.

One of the major advantages of having a blog advertising Google Adsense is because a blog gets traffic easier than a normal website. Blogs are easily updatable with new content and Google search engine loves fresh content. Therefore your blog has more chances of being indexed by the search engineers and more chances of being found when people search.

This basically translates into more traffic which means more people visiting and seeing your Adsense sites and means more people will click on your Adsense. If the percentage of people clicking on your Adsense is 3% then 100 visitors should get you 3 clicks. If you get 1000 visitors then you should on average get 30 clicks. Remember that internet marketing is a numbers game.

Google Adsense - Effective way to support your blog

September 16th, 2006

Having a blog advertising Google Adsense is one of the most effective ways to support your blog. What better way that to blog about what you are interested in and getting paid for it.

One of Google’s TOS (terms and conditions) is that Adsense should only appear on websites which you own. Therefore, make sure that you do not place your Adsense on websites which are owned by others.

The only exception to this rule is probably Google’s own blogger.com website.

Blogger.com is an Adsense portal where you can quickly build a blog and host it at blogger.com. It is fast and search engine friendly because it is owned by Google. Basically Google can do what they want so having an exception with their own blogger.com comes as a no surprise to me.

Therefore the quickest way to setup a blog advertising Google Adsense is to use blogger.com. They even have a user panel where it makes it easy to input the publisher ID of your Google Adsense account.
