Adsense websites making less than a dollar per day?

October 9th, 2006

It’s surprising that a lot of Adsense website builders are making less than a dollar per day with Adsense. It’s painful when you hear about how others are doing so well with Adsense easily.

So what’s that big secret you’re missing that is making your Adsense income stale?

Let me enlighten you - there is no big secret.
You just need to know some techniques which many people are using and work at them daily.

I see 3 areas which people fail in when they tell me they are getting virtually no Adsense income:

1. Picking the wrong niche.
If you pick a very competitive niche, you’ll need to work very hard to rank well in search engines. Having little search engine traffic means having little Adsense clicks. It’s a numbers game.

You can also pick a wrong niche if it is not competitive enough. For example, if your niche is on “tree leaves”, I don’t think you’ll get many Adsense on your website and not many people will search for it.

You need to pick the right niche and the right keywords to focus on for your Adsense. You can use Overture’s Keyword Selector Tool (http://inventory.overture.com) to find good keywords for your niche and use Google’s search engine to see the amount of Adwords for that keyword.

2. Choosing the right Adsense layouts
There’s lots of customization you can do on your Adsense layouts. These include changing the fonts, color, link color, border color and size of the ads.

Do not leave your Adsense layouts to the default settings. This is absolutely wrong. Change your Adsense appearance so that it blends with your website. If your website is blue then change the background color of your Adsense to blue and also the border color.

The point here is to make sure the Adsense don’t look like an ad. People love to read content but it is human nature that we hate to be advertised. If we see a blatant ad, we are less likely to click on it.

Additionally it’ll give the visitors the impression that you are putting up your website for the sake of displaying ads. The visitor is not very likely to return again.

Always test your Adsense appearance and its placement. This is called optimizing your Adsense. Placing the ad in some areas actually increases the number of clicks. You need to test this on your own website.

3. Getting traffic to the website
The final and most important reason why people fail to make a decent income with Adsense is their problem with getting traffic to their website. They find it hard to get traffic.

It is hard because it requires work. Too many people slap on some Adsense on their website and expect to make money by hoping that traffic will come. Life is not like that.

Getting decent traffic to a website is easy. To get lots of traffic, you need time to build it. There are lots of ways to get traffic to a website such as:

-          writing and submitting articles
-          basic SEO for the webpages
-          putting the website link on my email signatures
-          posting to forums and mentioning your website for comments
-          writing ezines
-          submit press releases
-          and more…

These are just some of the techniques I use. There are countless others. There’s too much for me to go into detail on how to use each technique. I’ve written about some on my blog at http://www.adsense-blogger.com which you can read up on.

My point is, creating traffic is not a one week job. It’s something an Adsense website builder should do continuously. We read that a lot of people are making $50 a day in Adsense. What me and you don’t see is their daily work in driving traffic to their website and the many months of hard work leading to this result.

These are the 3 main areas which I see people are not doing well which is affecting their Adsense clicks. I would suggest you to go to your website and see which area(s) you fit in. Understand that it is a continuous job to optimize and improve, and drive traffic to your website.

Let me ask you a question before I end this. What have you done today which has contributed to more Adsense clicks on your website?

Picking High Paying Keywords For Your Adsense Website

October 2nd, 2006

Heard of people mentioning that you should only choose high paying keywords when building your Adsense websites? The moral behind this is that as you’re getting clicks to your Adsense, you might as well get them for high paying keywords.

It’s a difference between earning $10 a day to $5 a day. But my advice is ignore these high paying keywords. Yes, unless you’re a professional internet marketer and know how to get tons of traffic forget it.

Sorry to shatter your hopes, but the fact is, there is too much competition for these high paying keywords. I mean why not create Adsense websites where there is little competition and you can make lots of money there? This is why almost everyone says go for the low hanging fruit.

I prefer to earn money easily and effortlessly. Let others battle it out.

Another good reason is that these so called high paying keywords change. They could be selling for $10 a click one month and only $1 a click a few months later. So by the time your website is well established to get the visitors coming to click, it’s too late.

People should not take creating Adense websites as a hobby. Treat it as a long term business. Create good content and build several websites around your niche.

For example, create anger management, time management, attracting wealth and self confidence websites around a main niche - self improvement.

These will drive traffic to other websites as they are related. They will make your Adsense income stable and long term. Not a flash in the pan.

5 Ways To Make Your Adsense Website Stick

September 25th, 2006

Here’s my first article on Adsense Blogger. There will be more coming and I hope these will help you increase your Adsense earnings.

What is explained is not a big secret but they are tasks which we need to do. Every little step counts towards that Google check.

5 Ways To Make Your Adsense Website Stick

Having the best layout for your Adsense on your webpage is not the biggest challenge people have with their website.

Adsense income depends on the traffic coming in to the website. Making that traffic return is the challenge that people would like to know.

What is better than having visitors continuing to return to your website, without any effort on your part? Here’s my top 5 ways to make your Adsense website sticky.

1. Have good, informative content. This is the one of the main reasons why I favour blogs advertising Adsense. YOu can easily write content and update it on your website.

It is much easier updating a blog than a website. Unless of course, your website has a content management system (CMS) like a blog.

People browse on the internet to read content. So if the information provided by you is good and it is updated on a regular basis, the user will bookmark your site and return possibly a few times a week to read your content.

2. Having a newsletter subscription or a mini course sign up form on the front of your website. Once visitors sign up to your form, they are on your email list.

You can use an autoresponder to follow up with them and also email to notify them that your content is updated. Of course, in your emails you will have links to your website asking them to check out the new content and/or what you sharing with them privately.

Having your visitors go on your email list will remind them of your existence so that they visit you again - which means Adsense profits.

Additionally, you can share with them your recommendations and give them your affiliate link. This means affiliate commissions.

3. Having a forum on your website. With good content you will attract interested visitors to your website. These visitors love to share and discuss what they are passionate about.

A forum will act as a regular gathering place for them which means repeated visits and also increase in Adsense clicks.

4. Announcing upcoming events. In your content, you should always specify what is coming up in the next few days. Such as updated report on your particular niche.

This will increase the visitor’s awareness of your website and they will remember to visit your website again sometime in the future to check out what you mentioned before.

This is a very powerful technique to build repeat visitors and it only requires a mention of what is coming in the next few days.

5. The last technique to ensure repeat visitors is to have a schedule of the updates to your website and stick to it. If your blog advertising Google Adsense is rarely updated, the chances of the visitor coming back is near zero.

People love to read good content but if they return and find that your content is the same they will rarely return. The reason is because they have a lot of other choices.

If you stick to having updates on regular basis such as once in 2 days, then the visitor will return to read the latest on your website.

This concludes the 5 ways to having a sticky Adsense website. The best thing is to implement all 5 techniques to your website. Getting traffic is not an easy thing so make sure the traffic is your regular customer. A regular customer gives you business which in this case is Adsense income.

Things to consider when creating Adsense websites

September 21st, 2006

Being an Adsense website builder, our job is to crank out Adsense websites with useful content, cool design, excellent usability and search engine optimised. The latter is particularly important because natural search engine results are the best. When people use Google’s search engine, they look at the results on the top left the most. Then they may look at the Adwords on the left.

This tells us that getting natural search engine traffic is the way to go in the long run. Adwords should be used only to track results quickly. If you’re ranked in the first page of a popular keyword, you’re sitting on top of a goldmine.

So an Adsense website builder should take these into consideration when building websites:

- The domain name. This matters a lot because lots of people have tested that if your keywords appear in your domain name, it helps in the search engine rankings especially Google. It is also a good idea to have a short domain name so that people can remember it easily.

- Title tags. Learn some HTML programming. Don’t be scared - just a little would do. Make sure you put your keywords in the Title tags. Tests has shown that search engines prefer it.

- H1 tags. The same goes with H1 tags and also bolded keywords. Make sure these are done with the keywords you want optimized.

- Finally, note that the further on top, your keywords appear in the HTML source, the better. Also have an instance of the keyword at the end of the HTML source as this helps as well.

This is by no means a complete list, otherwise I’ll be here all night blogging about this stuff. However, these are the basics and it should help you rise up the rankings a lot if you have not already done SEO before.

Are you asking your friends for favors?

September 20th, 2006

Have you ever asked a friend to do you a favor and criticize your site? I mean ask him or her to really blaze the website and talk about all the bad things they can see. Tell them to save the praises as you don’t want to hear them.

This is one of the most powerful ways to improve the Adsense websites which you have built. Yet I think less than 1% of the people are doing it. But it does make sense right?

What you should do as soon as they see your website is to monitor their reaction and what and where they are looking at. Take note of where they are moving the mouse cursor and what they are saying about the content they see.

If your friend doesn’t know what Adsense is then brilliant. You got yourself an excellent tester. Make sure you keep him or her dumb with this aspect of knowledge.

If they click on the Adsense, ask them straight away why they clicked on it and also did they know it was an advertisement. This will give you valuable insight on whether your Adsense blends well with your website.

Your friend is the visitor. Their comments and remarks count. You are an Adsense website builder and your task is to build Adsense websites so that these visitors will click on the ads. So take their comments seriously. The work you are doing is to serve them.

Are you learning about Adsense?

September 20th, 2006

Do you consider yourself an Adsense website builder? Know what the qualities are to be a successful one? Cranking out numerous websites day in and day out will not necessarily make an impact to your Adsense earnings. What you need is knowledge.

If I wrote lots of software hoping that it will give me a good income, it will flop if I’m not doing it right. No one wants to buy junk. Same as your Adsense websites. Continuously building Adsense websites to expand your Virtual Real Estate is the right thing to do. However, you must know how to do it right.

The world changes every day. Not long ago, blogs were unheard of. Not long ago not may people knew what is RSS. Now there’s podcasting too. Do you know all these terms?

One of the daily tasks us Adsense website builders to is learn. We go to forums, sign up to ezines and buy new marketing books. There’re always new ways to make money online. Who knows, maybe something better than Adsense will come along. We must keep up to date and learn. So off you go now and learn.

Are you building your Virtual Real Estate?

September 20th, 2006

Do you know what a Virtual Real Estate (VRE) is? John Reese, a famous internet marketer who sold a million dollars within 24 hours of a product launch, invented the phrase. He’s been making hundred thousand dollars annually from his VRE. I think you should know what VRE is and how to explode your Adsense income.

A virtual real estate is continuously building different websites around different niches so that your Google Adsense have more chances of getting clicked. Basically you become an Adsense website builder full time, cranking out websites.

The concept is simple. Research keywords and find out different niches that have a lot of Adwords and create exploding content for it.

Get visitors to the websites, make then return regularly and place Adsense and affiliate programs on it and gradually watch the money pour in.

You can make a living off Google Adsense. It can be done but it requires hard work and patience.

Simple steps to make money from Adsense

September 19th, 2006

The common moan by the not too successful Adsense website builder is “Just tell me what to do to earn money from Adsense and I’ll do it. Tell me the steps.” This post is the answer to that shout of frustration.

Step One
Decide on the theme for your website. It could be internet marketing, self improvement or article writing. Focus on a niche market with a lot of customers and a lot of Adwords. Type the phrase into Google and if there are lots of Adwords for it, then you’re safe.

Step Two
Use Wordtracker at http://www.onlinemoneymachine.com/keywords to do some research on the keywords to use for your postings. You should use a main keyword theme for your website.

Step Three
Start writing original content for your website. Use the keywords which you have researched in WordTracker. Or you can hire someone from Scriptlance to write original articles for you. Make sure the content is interesting and not jargon filled with keywords.

Step Four
Apply for an Adsense account and make sure that your website is uploaded and ready with good content before applying.

Step Five
Customize the adsense on your website and make sure relevant ads are appearing. If not then alter the keywords of your content.

Step Six
Drive targeted visitor to your website such as submitting your website to search engines, writing and submitting articles to article directories. Advertise your signature in forums with your website etc…

That’s it. Simple but needs discipline to do. Make sure the content of the website is updated frequently and continue to do SEO.

Modifying your own Adsense website

September 18th, 2006

Take a considerable amount of time learning the software you use for your Adsense website builder. It is a skill you need to modify your websites and to make them look good. Updates of content, testing the placement of Adsense on the website are all done with the software.

I do recommend hiring a programmer at Scriptlance or other freelance websites but you should also learn how to use the Adsense website builder tool yourself. You know exactly what you want and therefore communication to the programmer back and forth is quite frustrating.

So hire a programmer to do the initial setting up of the website and content and then twiddle things yourself on a continous basis. This includes changeing the color of the Adsense and the placement. Maybe a change of the websites background color will improve CTR. These are things you need to try for yourself and get those Google checks coming in.

Before I scare off everyone let me state that you do not need to know everything on programming. Just the basic HTML code and your Adsense code is good enough. Just so that you can do minor changes to the websites. Spend some time on purchase a good software for creating websites. Choose one which is user friendly where clicking and dragging objects is mainly what you need to do.

Tools To Build Your Adsense Website

September 17th, 2006

Have you ever thought what makes up your Adsense website builder? I mean what are your tools to build an Adsense website? Here is my list:

Adsense website builder software
The software you use to create the website. It should be easy to use, lots of features, including graphics, adsense links easily insertible, templates to choose from and SEO functions built in. Quite demanding but XsitePro has them all. It’s the software which I can’t live without to build my VRE (virtual real estate).
http://www.xsitepro.com/cmd.php?af=490416

Articles
The most valuable thing which will make search engines crawl your website and place appropriate Adsense on your pages is content. Without a doubt, content is indeed king. You should have original articles on your webpages optimized with the keywords.

A tip is to join a PLR article membership. PLR stands for Private Label Rights. Here you receive lots of articles and you can customize them to add your name. Therefore the content is original and search engines love original useful content.

WordTracker

This is a very, very important tool for my Adsense website builder.

http://www.onlinemoneymachine.com/keywords

Your content on the webpage or the articles which you purchase should be optimized with relevant keywords which people search for. I’m sure you’ve heard that keyword research is very important for ranking your website well, and Wordtracker is the best. You can use it for Adwords and for optimizing your websites with great keywords.
