5 Ways To Make Your Adsense Website Stick

September 25th, 2006

Here’s my first article on Adsense Blogger. There will be more coming and I hope these will help you increase your Adsense earnings.

What is explained is not a big secret but they are tasks which we need to do. Every little step counts towards that Google check.

5 Ways To Make Your Adsense Website Stick

Having the best layout for your Adsense on your webpage is not the biggest challenge people have with their website.

Adsense income depends on the traffic coming in to the website. Making that traffic return is the challenge that people would like to know.

What is better than having visitors continuing to return to your website, without any effort on your part? Here’s my top 5 ways to make your Adsense website sticky.

1. Have good, informative content. This is the one of the main reasons why I favour blogs advertising Adsense. YOu can easily write content and update it on your website.

It is much easier updating a blog than a website. Unless of course, your website has a content management system (CMS) like a blog.

People browse on the internet to read content. So if the information provided by you is good and it is updated on a regular basis, the user will bookmark your site and return possibly a few times a week to read your content.

2. Having a newsletter subscription or a mini course sign up form on the front of your website. Once visitors sign up to your form, they are on your email list.

You can use an autoresponder to follow up with them and also email to notify them that your content is updated. Of course, in your emails you will have links to your website asking them to check out the new content and/or what you sharing with them privately.

Having your visitors go on your email list will remind them of your existence so that they visit you again - which means Adsense profits.

Additionally, you can share with them your recommendations and give them your affiliate link. This means affiliate commissions.

3. Having a forum on your website. With good content you will attract interested visitors to your website. These visitors love to share and discuss what they are passionate about.

A forum will act as a regular gathering place for them which means repeated visits and also increase in Adsense clicks.

4. Announcing upcoming events. In your content, you should always specify what is coming up in the next few days. Such as updated report on your particular niche.

This will increase the visitor’s awareness of your website and they will remember to visit your website again sometime in the future to check out what you mentioned before.

This is a very powerful technique to build repeat visitors and it only requires a mention of what is coming in the next few days.

5. The last technique to ensure repeat visitors is to have a schedule of the updates to your website and stick to it. If your blog advertising Google Adsense is rarely updated, the chances of the visitor coming back is near zero.

People love to read good content but if they return and find that your content is the same they will rarely return. The reason is because they have a lot of other choices.

If you stick to having updates on regular basis such as once in 2 days, then the visitor will return to read the latest on your website.

This concludes the 5 ways to having a sticky Adsense website. The best thing is to implement all 5 techniques to your website. Getting traffic is not an easy thing so make sure the traffic is your regular customer. A regular customer gives you business which in this case is Adsense income.

Part 2 of “The Death of Adsense”?

September 24th, 2006

There are a lot of emails flying around with the subject “The Death of Adsense”. At first I thought Google announced some new policies and was clamping down on a lot of websites. Nope. It is an advert for a very good book called “The Death of Adsense”.

Right now, part 2 of the book is just released. It is called “Life After Adsense”. This is the ebook everyone was waiting for after reading part one “The Death Of Adsense”.

Both these Adsense ebooks are free, so check them out. You can’t lose.

You can place 5 Adsense units on a webpage?

September 24th, 2006

I’ve been receiving emails from subscribers who questioned what the maximum number of Adsense ad units they can place on a webpage. Reason being that they have seen 5 ad units on some webpages.

So are those pages breaking Google’s policies? Well the answer is no and you can only place a maximum of 3 Google Adsense ad units. Confused? Don’t be. All is cleared with my explanation below.

You can only place a maximum of 3 Google Adsense ad units on a webpage. That is clear and no one can argue with me on that statement. However, you can also add Adsense link units.

These are a new type of Adsense ad formats and they look like a menu bar. If a visitor clicks on them, it will not count as paid in Adsense. The click will bring up a new page that will consists of Adsense ads that is related to the category clicked on the Adsense link unit. If the Adsense on this page is clicked then it will count as a paid click.

Adsense link units are not counted as Adsense ads because clicks on them will not get you paid.

Next is the Google Search bar. If the visitor uses the Google Search bar to search your website, the Adwords that appear on the right hand side after the search will count as a paid click when clicked by the visitor.

There you have it. You can have 5 types of Google Adsense ads on your website but only 3 of them when clicked will pay you directly. The other 3 Adsense ads will only bring up more Adsense ads for the visitors to click on. You will not get paid for those clicks only the ones afterwards.

Links together with your Adsense layout

September 23rd, 2006

Too many people concentrate on placing the Adsense on their website and then posting their content regularly.

This is of course very good practice - but not enough. You also need to rank high in search engines to get traffic and also think of any other way to get traffic.

One of the most important routine tasks to do for your Google Adsense sites or blog is link building. You need build links to your site.

Links are needed to:

  • increase your Google PR so that you can sell one way links from your website
  • increase in traffic coming from other sites
  • make your website rank higher up the rankings especially with Google as backlinks has a great weight of importance

Your links should not come from link farms or any other unnatural ways. For example, getting thousands of links in one month is unnatural. What you need is to build the link naturally which means slowly.

The more links you have which are of high quality and with high PRs, then you will have more of a chance of ranking high in the search engines.

Adsense accounts safety net?

September 22nd, 2006

Beginners guide to Google Adsense is all about teaching the basics to the newbie so that they have a chance of having a good start and not get burnt. However, you’re still new and mistakes will happen. You need a safety net.

Nothing is beats having two Google Adsense accounts. I recommend most people to have two accounts even if they’re a seasoned pro. The reason is if one gets shut down, you’re back on your feet again in 3 mins. How cool can you get?

You may unexpectedly have mistakes with your site having 4 adsense units for example and if you don’t have insurance, you’ll loose a few days of income.

For the confident Adsense website builder, they can try some new techniques with Adsense and their website. For example, there is a software called Voodoo Blog which can create hundreds of blogs in one day. Risky, but if it works well, you can put it as your main stream marketing technique and watch the Google checks come in.

Things to consider when creating Adsense websites

September 21st, 2006

Being an Adsense website builder, our job is to crank out Adsense websites with useful content, cool design, excellent usability and search engine optimised. The latter is particularly important because natural search engine results are the best. When people use Google’s search engine, they look at the results on the top left the most. Then they may look at the Adwords on the left.

This tells us that getting natural search engine traffic is the way to go in the long run. Adwords should be used only to track results quickly. If you’re ranked in the first page of a popular keyword, you’re sitting on top of a goldmine.

So an Adsense website builder should take these into consideration when building websites:

- The domain name. This matters a lot because lots of people have tested that if your keywords appear in your domain name, it helps in the search engine rankings especially Google. It is also a good idea to have a short domain name so that people can remember it easily.

- Title tags. Learn some HTML programming. Don’t be scared - just a little would do. Make sure you put your keywords in the Title tags. Tests has shown that search engines prefer it.

- H1 tags. The same goes with H1 tags and also bolded keywords. Make sure these are done with the keywords you want optimized.

- Finally, note that the further on top, your keywords appear in the HTML source, the better. Also have an instance of the keyword at the end of the HTML source as this helps as well.

This is by no means a complete list, otherwise I’ll be here all night blogging about this stuff. However, these are the basics and it should help you rise up the rankings a lot if you have not already done SEO before.

Adsense site having lack of content?

September 21st, 2006

One of the concepts which I drill into the mind of everyone reading this blog is to write original content which is interesting to the readers, offers good advice, controversial and offsets people into thinking mode.

However, there comes a time when you’ve written all there is to write about. But what next? Give up? Hell no, of course not. Remember, persistency is the key.

There is always things to write about with keywords that can bring relevant Adsense clicks. You just have to have ideas. You can get these ideas easily by searching on the internet.

For example, if I’m stuck with nothing to write on Adsense, I’ll go to directories where I can search for articles relating to Adsense. Just by reading the titles and by scanning through some content, I immediatley have an idea and off to my blog I go. Simple and effective. Some of the article directories you can go are http://www.ezinearticles.com and http://www.goarticles.com Both excellent resources where you can learn and steal.

Adsense policies that will hurt your income

September 21st, 2006

It’s about time that I should mention the Adsense policies that if not obliged, will get your Google Adsense account terminated. So if you’re breaking any one of these commandments then quickly correct them. Sometimes Google may not know but if your competitor grasses on you, then you’ll be in deep pooh pooh.

By all means, check up on Google’s policies from time to time. They have the rights to change them. I mean they do pay you right?

Without further ado, here are the commandments:

  •  It is a sin to place Adsense on pages that have no content. So make sure yo have good relevant content.
  • A maximum of 3 Adsense units can be displayed on each webpage. So don’t go crazy.
  • A maximum of 2 Google AdSense for search boxes can be inserted on a webpage.
  • Only One link unit can be placed on each webpage. This is in addition to the ad units and search boxes specified above. Link units are considered to part of Adsense.
  • No Adsense formats whatsoever can be displayed on domain parking websites, pop-ups, pop-unders, or in any emails.
  • The Adsense cannot be hidden so that it does not look like an ad. The colors must be such that any ad elements, including text and URL, are visible.
  • Clicks on Google ads must not result in a new browser window being launched.

Now please go and check your websites.

Beginners with Adsense are shy

September 21st, 2006

One of the major problems with beginners or newbies, are - shyness. Yes they are shy like 5 year old boys and girls when they’re introduced to someone they don’t know well. The reason for the shyness is fear. Fear of the unknown. You won’t suspect a  person you meet who is confident and loud to be a beginner right?

You cannot be shy with your sites advertising Google Adsense. Nope, you have to get your word around and tell people to come and visit your site. An Adsense website littered with excellent content and expensive Adsense units are useless if no one knows about it and therefore clickless.

You have to have a big mouth and tell people about it. For example if you have a blog, then tell people about the blog. If you have a website on carpets, then tell people to check out the new information on carpets. By the way, don’t tell people to check out your Adsense because it’s against Google’s TOS.

Apart from word of mouth, add your website links to your signatures with a catchy description. For example:

http://www.adsense-blogger.com - The Adsense blog about Adsense and making money online.

Go to forums, and post and ask people to review your sites. Don’t be shy. Have sigantures at the bottom of your postings - don’t by shy. You’re missing out on traffic that can earn you Adsense clicks.

Yep. By now I hope you’ve learnt that being shy is expensive. So be a loud mouth and blab to everyone you know.
